To reverse the housing crisis, homes need to cost only $50,000 and be installable in a day.

Therefore, the Nova Cozy Cottage™ is designed to minimize not only the upfront capital expense of construction and ongoing operating cost for utilities, but their previously-unpredictable cost range too. The Community’s central hub allows a grouping of Cottages to function off-grid for up to two weeks by capturing and filtering clean water, recycling greywater for non-drinkable uses, treating wastewater onsite without the need for sewage lines, and generating and storing power on site. Power, temperature, humidity, and water are all tracked and balanced within the Community to diagnose issues before they develop into maintenance needs. Overall, the integrated system creates a reliable “mini-grid” for the residents.

Prefabrication allows for processes that would typically need to happen sequentially to instead happen in parallel: site prep can occur simultaneously with construction of the floor, walls, roof, and electrical, mechanical, and plumbing components. Nova Cozy Cottages™ use concrete-free, low-impact, rapid-install ground screws as a permanent and versatile foundation solution. This design avoids the pitfalls of typical concrete slab processes: costly excavation, creation of custom formwork, and pouring of carbon-intensive wet concrete. These combined strategies allow us to rapidly deploy affordable housing in massive scale across the globe.
